dangled over the edge of a dying romance

I don't wanna fall
I don't wanna fly
I don't wanna be dangled over the edge of a dying romance

Wow.
Thanks for posting this.
I hereby request you make a K/S version of this!
"Why are you holding on like it's the end of the world?"

(Just gotta say, I did wince a bit at the old black shoe-shiner in this vid, though, much as I am in love with the rest of it. No longer an "innocent" association...)

Ahhh the K/S version has been running through my head... the edge of the galaxy as the end of the world... dangled over the edge by Ruk perhaps... giant balloon: shuttlecraft, stolen Klingon ship, not sure. Lyric-wise it does offer an interesting take on the K and S relationship. Although the flying and falling would be nicely depicted by STXI scenes, I don't see this as talking about the younger Spock and Kirk. This is not about innocence.
If I do try to tackle this, I may try to borrow a bit of your technique, fresca, and use stills... it will be easier on my creaky old hand-cranked computer.

I love using stills, partly because they're easier: my computer is "old" too--2004 = ancient;
but also because they allow so much room to add dialogue and to reinterpret and rearrange scenes however best fits.

My only frustration is that youTube won't let me upload the highest resolution, so the type sometimes is a bit fuzzy...
I had to retitle all my stills for my more recent vid because I had used a font that did not read well...
Sigh.
These things take so much longer than non-vidders might guess. Or maybe it's just me...

Anyway, yeah--right, I'm totally with you--this is not an innocent younger-days song.
In a weird way, it could actually tie in with that dreadfully flawed but still v. interesting movie ST V--e.g. where Spock says to Kirk, "You were never alone"... even at the end of the world. Center of the galaxy. Or whatever the hell that place was supposed to be....

Dangled by Ruk! LOL!

Yes exactly! "You were never alone -- that's exactly the thing I had in mind. Perhaps the mountainclimbing could be worked in too. (ST:FF is fast becoming my favorite of the movies. I remember reading the description in Mann's Doktor Faustus of the little boys singing rounds with the milkmaid, layers of melody intertwining though always separated in time, and I think of "Row row row your boat" and how such a childlike thing can be so descriptive of life).
You're a horrible temptress you know. I have way too much stuff to do without scouring through Trekcore right now.

Hey, that's cool we were both thinking of the same connection. I need to watch ST:FF again. It's got all these lumps and bumps in it, but some of the ideas and images are powerful and have stayed with me.

Similarly, I have come to love ST: TMP, with it's long, slow movements. Different music.

Speaking of music, I finally did something I've been wanting to do--a refit of my "Virgil Says Relax" vid, which I posted oround Thanksgiving, but which was always too loose, and I swapped the audio for "Nessun Dorma", by Puccini, from the opera Turnadot.

***However---warning--youTube wouldn't take my first upload because the recording I used was owned by WMG (Warner Music Group, I think?)--the company whose recent copyright claims are scorching a wide swath through youTube.

So, before you go pouring your heart blood out, check that the song you want to use is not owned by them. I'm not web savvy enough to know how to get around it--I just found a different recording.

And of course you're right--if you have other things to do, this stuff is insane. I spent all of 4 days on the e.e. cummings vid and then on cleaning up the Virgil one (it really was about as much work as starting afresh, but I really wanted to do it.)
Now I am turning my attention to my next task--researching Slovakia.
Really I am.
Really.
Right after I watch the Final Frontier...

Did I say work? Uh huh.
And after I google Matt Alber. Did you see he's on Blogger?!

He writes about the making of this vid--pretty cool--it's his local barbershop! That took away my wince.
